WA: "Vague" mother loses toddler after drinking session
Perth police say a 38-year-old woman who had been drinking all afternoon yesterday sparked
an extensive overnight search after she forgot where she left her two-year-old son.
Relatives of the mother from east suburban Girrawheen became worried last night when she
returned home about 7.30pm without the toddler.
Sniffer dogs and state emergency services personnel joined 10 police on a search of the
Girrawheen area, but could find no trace of the boy.
Officers from Western Australia's Family and Children's Services department interviewed the
woman over the forgotten child.
The boy was returned home at about 9am by a family friend who had cared for him last night.
