Oly: Prime tickets on sale from tomorrow

Ordinary Australians can get their hands on previously quarantined premium Olympic
tickets from tomorrow.

Top A class tickets in artistic gymnastics, basketball and soccer, ranging in price
from $70 to $455, can be bought via the call centre or box offices only.

SOCOG deputy chief executive MICHAEL EYERS says last week, with the release of the
special packages, the ticket hotline operators were selling at capacity and box offices
have been overflowing at lunchtimes.

He says organisers are expecting another very big sales week with the release of the
prime tickets at standard prices -- particularly now that we're just over two weeks away
from the Games.

Olympics Minister MICHAEL KNIGHT last week decided to return 75,000 tickets earmarked
for a premium ticket sales program in a bid to boost sales.

Tomorrow's sales are limited to six per person.

Internet sales for gymnastics and basketball won't be until September 3, but soccer
tickets, including the men's gold medal match, are available online now.

Thursday will see the release of 6,000 athletics tickets.
