Fed: Lay off the personal attacks, Gillard tells govt
Labor frontbencher JULIA GILLARD says the federal government looks set to make personal
attacks on Opposition Leader MARK LATHAM this parliamentary session.
Ms GILLARD, who's also the manager of opposition business in the House of Representatives,
says the public deserves better than a negative and whinging government.
Federal parliament begins a two-week session today, sitting for the first time since
the summer break.
Ms GILLARD says the HOWARD government's made it clear in media reports that it intends
to approach this parliamentary session by playing the man and not the ball.
She says Labor's focus will be on debating its positive agenda.
Regarding attacks on Mr LATHAM, Ms GILLARD says the public is sick of the politics
of getting transcripts going back up to 20 years and looking for the tiniest discrepancy.
