Vic: Woman charged with murder after fatal stabbing

MELBOURNE, Dec 30 AAP - A 41-year-old woman was charged with murder after the fatal
stabbing of a 37-year-old man during a street brawl in Melbourne's north early this morning.

Doreen Robinson, of Gladstone Park, appeared in an out-of-sessions hearing tonight,
charged with one count of murder.

Ms Robinson was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday, January 2.

Police said the man had fatal back and head injuries after a fight which involved up
to 10 people in Koonalda Road, Gladstone Park, early today.

Two other men are in hospital, one in a stable condition with serious knife wounds
and the other in a serious but non life-threatening condition, after being sliced with
a machete-like instrument, police said.

Police said the fight broke out at about 1am (AEDT).

Victoria's homicide squad is investigating the incident, and police said they would
be investigating whether a long-standing grudge between two families in the street sparked
the brawl.

Several weapons have been seized, including a tomahawk, a knife and a baseball bat.

A post-mortem examination will determine the man's cause of death.
